Well well well! Hey folks! Enjoying Pakistan Super League’s terrific encounters? Sure you might be and that’s why you are here. Haha! Well, here comes the 3rd play-off between Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United. Trust me, it was an outstanding contest. Scroll down to find out which team gone through to the final, against Quetta Gladiators.
In this 3rd Qualifying Final, Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and elected to field first. Shahid Afridi made a fair decision, actually planned to restrict Islamabad United on a low total and then chase it down. But things got complicated for them, when Sharjeel Khan as an opener turned to be a nightmare for the bowlers of Peshawar Zalmi. Sharjeel Khan played a knock and brutally beaten every single bowler of Zalmis. He became the one to smash first century in this huge competition and seriously, he was entertaining. So, that putted a huge pressure on the bowlers and all they could was to prepare the batting lineup to chase it down. Islamabad United gave a target of 177 to Peshawar Zalmi, which is quiet achievable as because it was a good-batting pitch. But bowlers have got some strong moves as well. Sharjeel Khan played an outstanding knock of 117, which just helped United to defend the total and Misbah Ul Haq had good plans for that.
In the 2nd innings, Peshawar Zalmi took a breathtaking start and they were looking quiet relax. But credit goes to the bowlers of Islamabad United especially Imran Khalid, who just collapsed the top-order batting-lineup of Zalmis and put great pressure on them. There were only 2 batsmen from Zalmis who played the game, Kamran Akmal as an opener and the captain, Shahid Afridi. Well, with entertaining stuff, Shahid Afridi was a big hope until he was out there alone to fight this out and the way he was playing; it was a threat for United bowlers. Undoubtedly, Boom Boom Afridi has some good history which tells that, ‘He Is A Game Changer’. That’s true, but he can’t do everything alone. He was looking in a aggressive form, but unfortunately, he had a lot of pressure as a captain and there was nothing he could do alone out there when the required run rate jumps to 20.00 per over. It was a huge crowd in the stadium and they all left when Afridi got out. It was a major disappointment for Zalmi fans, but nothing to blame Shahid Afridi because he was out there and he did as much as he could as a captain. Well, Islamabad United did it fantastically and there were 2 key players they had, who snatched the game away from Zalmis; Sharjeel Khan and Imran Khalid. WOW! Imran Khalid took 4 wickets with good figures again and Sharjeel Khan smashed a wonderful 100. Overall, it’s been an terrific contest. Islamabad United beat Peshawar Zalmi by 50 runs, and they’ve reached the Final against Quetta Gladiators. Congratulations to Islamabad United! Now that’ll be the last contest of this whole incredible tournament and we all would love to watch it surely.
