In this semi-final match, England won the toss and chose to field first. Incredible decision! Now the first-batting team have to give a big-chase for the other one, in order to make their way to the finals. New Zealand opened with Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson. The partnership between them stayed only for 17 runs and the first wicket of Martin Guptill was taken in the 3rd over. Now it’s Colin Munro and Kane Williamson. There must be some pressure after the first wicket down but they have to launch big-innings! So, Kane Williamson and Colin Munro made a good partnership of 74 runs and then, England got a breakthrough, removing Kane Williamson. Corey Anderson steps in! Now their game has slowed down! The next few partnerships were 16 runs, 27 runs and so the wickets were constantly been taken. In the end, New Zealand gave 154 runs target to England with 8 wickets down. What to expect? Can New Zealand defend it? It’s pretty defendable but also quiet achievable too if we keep England’s form in mind! Let’s see how it goes for them!
New Zealand’s Fall of Wickets: 17-1 (Guptill, 2.1 ov), 91-2 (Williamson, 10.3 ov), 107-3 (Munro, 13.2 ov), 134-4 (Taylor, 16.3 ov), 139-5 (Ronchi, 17.3 ov), 139-6 (Anderson, 17.4 ov), 150-7 (Santner, 19.2 ov), 153-8 (McClenaghan, 19.6 ov)
In the second-half of the game, England opened their batting with Jason Roy and Alex Hales. Both of these two batsmen fired their arms and absolutely played a classic innings. Especially Jason Roy proved to be a dangerous man in the game for New Zealand bowlers. The partnership between these two was 82 runs and New Zealand got a breakthrough with 1st wicket down! But the hopes were quiet dull as the score was jumping up briskly and New Zealand was in trouble! Then the second partnership of 28 runs was made between Jason Roy and Joe Root. When England were 110-1, they lost Jason Roy. But actually he is the man who gets the whole credit because of his mind-blowing inning of 78 runs with 11 Fours and 2 Sixes on 44 balls. He played fantastic knock! Then Eoin Morgan stepped in but was removed on a very first delivery he faced. Then the 3rd partnership was made between Joe Root and Jos Buttler. Both of them picked up the game nicely and made it difficult for New Zealand to look for any winning chance. In the end, Jos Buttler finished the game with a SIX and England won the semi-final by 7 wickets with 17 balls still remaining. What a win! England made their way to the Final, sending New Zealand back home now. Terrific contest! Congratulations to England for their advancement to the Final!
England’s Fall of Wickets: 82-1 (Hales, 8.2 ov), 110-2 (Roy, 12.1 ov), 110-3 (Morgan, 12.2 ov)
So, England has made a wonderful comeback with an heated up form. They’re playing it wonderfully! Speaking up about today’s game, they’ve been terrific. New Zealand made their way to the Semi-Final unbeaten, but they faced a nightmare here. England has gone through in a dazzling style! New Zealand must be shocked up till now.. But well! Best of luck to New Zealand for the next time. England deserves it now after too much of trouble-facing situations in their past. Congratulations to England cricket team!
Now, there is one more semi-final left which will be played between West Indies and India. Who is gonna win that? Any guess? Can England take the World T20 trophy with them? What do you think? Share your thoughts!
