So, this is the 14th Super 10 match of Group 2 between Pakistan and Australia. This is the important one for Pakistan especially in order to stay alive in the World T20 2016 tournament. Well, let’s see how it goes for both the teams and who takes the victory in the end! Scroll down to find out.
In this match, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. Now it was looking a good batting pitch and Australia surely is looking to put huge score on the board and build pressure for Pakistan. Australia began their batting with Usman Khuwaja and Aaron Finch. Both of them took a good start of their innings and made a partnership 28 runs; Usman Khuwaja was bowled by Wahab Riaz. Then, David Warner came onto the crease and took the game but he was bowled quiet earlier by Wahab Riaz. After that, the captain of the Australian team Steven Smith comes on to the crease and takes the responsibility of the game now. He and Aaron Finch only made 15 runs partnership because Finch’s been bowled out by Imad Wasim. Australia was on 57 with 3 wickets down in 7.2 overs. Steven Smith is still out there and now here comes Glenn Maxwell. Now both of the batsmen made a great partnership of 62 runs that helped Australia to keep progressing towards a big target. Maxwell’s wicket was taken and he was quiet disappointed. Now, Shane Watson has arrived and in the last few overs, Watson and Smith scores 74 runs together. Aggressive play in the last 5-6 overs that helped Australia to put the target of 194 for Pakistan. Mohammad Sami was proved to be an expensive bowler for Pakistan because of giving out 52 runs in just 4 overs. Well, now let’s see how Pakistan performs in this huge run-chase.
In the 2nd innings, Pakistani openers Sharjeel Khan and Ahmed Shahzad came on to the pitch. Sharjeel Khan began with his aggressive-natural game that he is been playing since last few matches. Australia successfully removed Ahmed Shahzad earlier and putted pressure on Pakistan. On 3rd number, Khalid Latif came on to the crease and the partnership between them was of just 20 runs. Sharjeel Khan is bowled out by James Faulkner and Pakistan is now on 40 with 2 wickets down in 5.3 overs. Now comes Umar Akmal to pick the game and with Khalid Latif, he made good partneship of 45 runs but then been bowled out. So, here comes Shahid Afridi at number 5 and with his aggressive game he begins. He just made 14 runs and got stumped while looking for another big shot, coming out of his crease on a very next delivery. Well, now the game slows down, but still Shoaib Malik came on to the crease and can do something. Pakistan now needs 84 runs on 40 balls. Well, Shoaib Malik and Khalid Latif’s partnership of 37 runs didn’t worked well because their game was slow in comparison to the requirement. Khalid Latif was dismissed and then the fall-of-wicket came on to the ‘brisk’ position. They didn’t chased it well and Australia won the match by 21 runs. Credit goes to James Faulkner for his mind-blowing spell that got him 5 wickets straightaway. Congratulations to Australia for their brilliant win! Better luck for Pakistan as they’ve gone out of the tournament now.
Well, superb contest it has been for Australia as they’ve given their best performance. Pakistan really needs to improve their batting, bowling and undoubtedly, fielding as well. Because there are quiet many flaws inside the Pakistani team that could cost them even more in future. Good day for James Faulkner for taking tremendous 5 wickets and making a remarkable record. He was declared as Player of the Match, in the end. Superb performance! Good luck for Pakistan next time. Still they tried their best.
