In this match, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first. Now, England must look for a huge target to defeat Sri Lanka. Undoubtedly, both sides are tough and it’s unpredictable to decide who is gonna win this. Well, pretty much depends on England’s batting. They opening pair is Jason Roy and Alex Hales on the crease. Unfortunately, Alex Hales was dismissed earlier without scoring any run. The partnership built between Joe Root and Jason Roy. Both of them worked well and made partnership of 61 runs. Then, Joe Root’s wicket has been taken. Then comes Jos Buttler on the crease. After 20+ runs together, Jason Roy has been dismissed. But he played good opening knock of 42 runs. Now it’s Eoin Morgan on the crease with Jos Buttler. Both of them made a brilliant partnership of 74 runs that helped England to achieve big score. England were at 162-3 when Morgan’s been removed. But still they worked up well to finally give the target of 172 to Sri Lanka. Well, it all depends on form and Sri Lanka can chase it if they’re in typical form to play this game. Let’s see.

In the 2nd innings, Sri Lanka were in serious trouble when they lost 4 wickets in early 5 overs. Then it was Angelo Mathews who picked up the game when Sri Lanka were 15-4 in 3 overs. The partnership was then on built between Chamara Kapugedera and Angelo Mathews of 80 runs to give some hope to Sri Lanka, otherwise they were out of the game real soon. When Kapugedera’s wicket is been taken, Sri Lanka were 95-5. Now their 2nd big partnership built between Thisara Perera and Angelo Mathews who was the man-in-form. 42 runs were made between them and Perera was removed. Mathews was still out there so the hope was still alive for them. But the wickets at the other hand were falling so briskly that Mathews had no chance of picking up the game. In the end with 8 wickets down, Sri Lanka could only make it to 161 and the overs ended for them. England won the match by 10 runs. The credit goes to English bowler Chris Jordan who took 4 outstanding wickets and Jos Buttler who played good knock of 66 runs to put a huge target for Sri Lanka. Well, England is the team in form nowadays and they’ve proved themselves quiet amazingly in this competition. Sri Lanka really needs to improve themselves now because it’s not been so good so far for them.
