This is the 20th and the last Super 10 match of the World T20 2016 and it was played between South Africa and Sri Lanka. It really is been a terrific tournament so far! Let’s see how it goes in this match as the tournament is coming to an end. One thing to notice, both the teams playing the last Super 10 match of the big tournament can’t make it to the semi-finals now. No matter who wins! Scroll down to find out how it goes..!
In this match, South Africa won the toss and elected to field first. Sri Lanka opened their batting with Dinesh Chandimal and TM Dilshan. Both of them began a wonderful game and made a good partnership of 45 runs, then Chandimal’s wicket was taken first. Well, it goes quiet unhappy for Sri Lanka again that their batting lineup collapsed quiet earlier. The 2nd big partnership of 30 runs was between Dilshan and Milinda Siriwardana. Then, their whole batting lineup didn’t performed well and just 30-40 more runs were scored. Finally, Sri Lanka were all-out on 120 runs. Good bowling spells from South African bowlers as they were all set to restrict Sri Lanka earlier. So far in this tournament, it is the first time we’ve witnessed the team in the 1st innings is getting all-out. Let’s see if Sri Lanka can defend such a very low target or South Africa is gonna take the victory.
Sri Lanka’s Fall of Wickets: 45-1 (Chandimal, 4.5 ov), 45-2 (Thirimanne, 4.6 ov), 75-3 (Siriwardana, 9.2 ov), 78-4 (Jayasuriya, 10.3 ov), 85-5 (Dilshan, 12.5 ov), 85-6 (Kapugedera, 13.2 ov), 96-7 (Perera, 14.6 ov), 109-8 (Herath, 17.2 ov), 120-9 (Vandersay, 19.2 ov), 120-10 all-out (Lakmal, 19.3 ov)
In the 2nd innings, Hashim Amla and Quinton De Kock opened first. Their partnership only remained for 15 runs and De Kock was removed earlier. Pressure on batting team! Then, it was Faf Du Plessis who came on to bat and made a wonderful partnership of 60 runs. They were quiet relaxed about the situation as they might knew that their steady game could take them to victory. The 2nd big partnership was made between Hashim Amla and AB De Villiers of 47 runs. In the end, South Africa won the match by 8 wickets with 15 balls still remaining. Sri Lanka batting not bowling worked any good to seal victory in this match. Sri Lanka is been so down as we’ve seen them in last couple of matches. For now, congratulations to South Africa for their win.
South Africa’s Fall of Wickets: 15-1 (de Kock, 1.5 ov), 75-2 (du Plessis, 12.6 ov)
Well! Well! Well! Super 10 game is over and now the upcoming are Semi-Finals. Well, this big win against Sri Lanka didn’t helped South Africa to make their place in the semi-finals. But still they played really well and it’s a good luck to them for the next time! Cheers to Hashim Amla for his mind-blowing 56 match-winning runs. The Player of the Match award goes to ‘Aaron Phangiso’ for his superb bowling. WOW!
