Inspirational Innings: Rohit Sharma’s 264 Off 173 Balls[Video]

Indian cricket team is always been full of talented and sensible players. One of them is Rohit Sharma, who is an classic opening batsman of Indian cricket team. He always is been capable of controlling the game. Opening batsmen take the game in control and score as much to avoid any risks or troubles for other batsmen behind – that’s what their objective is.

On 13 November, 2014, it was a 4th ODI match between India and Sri Lanka. India batted first and the match was going on just normally. Rohit Sharma came on to the crease as an opener with Ajinkya Rahane. Rahane got out quiet earlier but Sharma stayed up long and was hitting the ball all around the ground. As an opener, he stayed till the last ball of inning, played a mind-blowing innings of 264 runs off 173 balls.

He is the first ever cricketer to score Two-And-A-Half century in ODI format of the cricket. Till his century, it was all normal, but then he was boosted and more energized to play authentic strokes against Sri Lankan bowlers.

Rohit Sharma became brutal for all the Sri Lankan bowlers, played all around the ground and didn’t missed any chance. No bowler was able to take his wicket, and he was like ‘one man army’ on the crease. His only score was 264 and India set a target of 404 to chase for Sri Lanka.

It was the first time that any batsman has reached the milestone of two-and-half-century score in One-Day International. Rohit Sharma made an amazing record of being on the first spot with with highest best score in ODI. He surpassed the record of Virender Shewag’s 219. Rohit Sharma is also the one who made a record of 2-times double-centuries in ODI format; first batsman to do so. He smashed 33 fours and 9 sixes in that innings. Thrilling and in fact, entertaining.

Everybody appreciated him for his interesting batting. The whole Indian team came out on the ground and even Sri Lankan players appreciated him. Really inspirational!

What’s more interesting is that Sri Lanka didn’t even reached his score in chasing. They were all-out on 251, India defended it well.

He surely have a class when he plays. A definitely dexterous player who have a mind all concentrated on his game when he plays. What are your thoughts after watching the video? Do share your feedback with us.
